The Hunting Wives (2025)
How to do guitar Music For Texas in a way that avoids cliches? Such was the topic of my first discussion with Rebecca Cutter for her incisive crime drama The Hunting Wives. As a guitar player with a large collection of rare and folky guitars from all over the world, I perused my stash until I found an instrument I had not yet used in a film score, a Croatian Prim – a small, pointy sounding axe with a haunting sound somewhere between The Near East and Austin. I paired that with its larger cousin the basprim, and a telecaster to ground them both and started down the road of writing. As i went along I broke a piano, broke many antique guitar strings and wine glasses, struck a cello with pieces of wood and metal and generally had a great time with Rebecca Cutter’s dark and twisty yarn.
